Hands Off Iran

On June 21, the Trump warmonger, sent a squadron of the world’s most advanced bombers to launch a dozen “bunker-buster” bombs aimed a obliterating Iran’s nuclear research facilities that Trump, insisted without foundation, were preparing to manufacture nuclear weapons to launch against the US.
As part of international days of protest, about 1,500 people rallied in Toronto on a sweltering June 22, across from the U.S. Consulate, chanting the slogan “No War on Iran”. and calling for the abolition of nuclear weapons starting with USA and Israel. On June 28, in Washington DC a large action demanded “No to US War Against Iran”, and “Ban all nuclear weapons stating with the US and Israel!”
The US, with over 1,100 military bases in 100 countries around the world, knows no limits to its endless bi-partisan wars: deadly wars of the traditional type that slaughter countless thousands in days, to “special operations” wars, secret wars, assassination wars, proxy wars, tariff wars, trade wars and all the rest. Might we add that today’s new Iran war has its parallel in the 1953 US coup that overthrew the democratically-elected Iranian government to steal Iran’s oil for US corporations?! Twenty-nine years later. In 1979, the U.S. secretly armed and financed Iraq’s Saddam Hussein’s ten-year war against Iran’s popular revolution that mobilized seven million Iranian workers to overthrow the US/CIA-installed regime. That “secret” war took the lives of one million Iranians and 800,000 Iraqis. That the US today insists on, once again, backed by its proxy genocidal partner, Zionist Israel, the “right” to be the supreme cop of the world, informs us of our obligation to construct a massive movement to reject every aspect of US racist and imperialist policy. This includes defending the right of all poor and oppressed nations to self-defence.
Only the USA has used Atom Bombs to incinerate a population (Hiroshima and Nagasaki, August 1945). In West Asia, only Israel has nuclear weapons. Only the Zionist state has massacred over 55,600 Palestinians in Gaza, not to mention thousands in the West Bank, Lebanon, Syria and Yemen. Israel’s unprovoked attack on Iran scuttled peace talks. Iran affirms it has no intention of developing nuclear arms. There is no evidence to the contrary. Nonetheless, Iran has a right to defend itself — while Trump absurdly demands its unconditional surrender. Only workers and the oppressed have the right to change the government and state in Iran, not the imperialist powers and their Zionist agents.
